This too shall pass..

As I was sitting outside this morning I saw the most beautiful sight.*

It spoke to me and encouraged me.

When the clouds are so thick in the sky, you can forget there is a sun.  The clouds are often heavy and grey and lie low.  I was reminded of how often, as things get difficult and you are faced with challenges, you can forget that the Lord is there. You might only be able to see the hardships and challenges because they are right in front of you.

As I was watching, there was a break in the clouds and the sun shone down.

The sun is always there, it is there whether you can see it or not. In the same way, we are never left alone.  God doesn't abandon us, disappear or leave us.  In fact He is right there, always.

This morning I read 1 Peter 5:10
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

His promise is that we will suffer only for a short while.

and that after the storm ....

He will restore and strengthen us!

*The images I chose were selected to illustrate the message and not actually what I saw as you obviously noted.

  1. Hi Mel , i just read your post, and i thought i must comment...

I think you missed the roots....the important bit in the scripture...And the God of all grace....the first bit is more important than the rest....it is not what we are going through...it is who we know...the sun...it is not the..suffering as you said but who we know...but our roots need to be on what God has already done already suffered, the word GRACE is the key, we do not have the ability to become strong...it is by relying on His Grace His ability in us...that we are firmly established in righteousness..Grace is His ability in Us to change...or i should say.. Let Us go boldly unto the throne of GRACE to find HELP in time of NEED......and Grace is not something we use at the end of the line.. Grace is a person and lifestyle for each day...so my prayer is that you would experience Grace today in all that God has meant it to be lots of love& hugs Jenni

  2. Thanks Jenni, I agree totally. It is only in Him that we can make it through the storms. Funny as I read your comment, I was reminded again how we all "only see in part" and that the full picture is in all of us together! Thanks for adding to this picture!

  5. I have been through many a storm in my 52 years. Thank God for His presence. I'm not sure how unbelievers make it through. New follower.

  7. I know exactly what you mean. How DO people ever manage without God - when in fact, even with God I don't even manage - not His fault but rather mine (lack of faith, fear).

  8. I have to echo you, Mel! How can we do anything without the Lord!! I thank you for adding your wonderful and practical wisdom from the Word...so often we see God's creation give us a glimpse of His revealed truth...just what I have been writing about today for tomorrow's 'EOA'. Will you please return to grace us with your love of the Word? We all need encouragement like this!!!
